DRX, the runner-up in the VCT Pacific League 2023, surprised by announcing on Monday (12) that two pivotal players will now be part of the reserve bench. Simultaneously, the team brought in an 18-year-old prodigy to strengthen its main roster.
As teams gear up for the upcoming season of the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) across the four leagues, significant roster changes are underway, prompting players to switch teams and creating opportunities for emerging talents to climb the ranks.
In South Korea, DRX made a surprising move by reassigning veterans Goo “Rb” Sang-min and Kim “Zest” Gi-seok to the reserve bench. This decision allowed the team to promote Cho “Flashback” Min-hyuk from DRX Prospects, the organization’s developmental team.
Throughout 2023, the organization had been exploring options with Zest, considering the rise of the new prospect Jung “Foxy9” Jae-sung, who alternated in the starting lineup, replacing Zest in some matches.
On the other hand, Rb has been a cornerstone of DRX since their time as Vision Strikers in 2021. In 2023, the player showcased versatility by using 10 different agents during the VCT season, more than any other player.
With the departure of the two veteran players, DRX now welcomes its newest member, Flashback, a young talent who has been part of the team’s development program since August of this year. At just 18 years old, he becomes the youngest player on the roster.
