During a heated match against SAIDEIRA Esports on Thursday afternoon (8th) in the semifinals of the Corsair Championship 2024, player taka from team OS CARA CEGO was banned due to suspicions of cheating. The tournament, a regional competition organized by Corsair and widely broadcasted by influencer tixinha, saw this dramatic incident unfold.
The ban occurred during the sixth round of the first map of the best-of-three series (BO3), when Riot Games’ anti-cheat system, Vanguard, detected suspicious activities linked to one of the players from team OS CARA CEGO. Consequently, in accordance with tournament rules, the team was disqualified from the competition.
Following the incident, banned player taka turned to social media seeking support, appealing for a review of the decision that led to his team’s disqualification.
Subsequently, it was revealed that Riot’s anti-cheat software identified the use of a program known in the community as Raw Accel, a mouse acceleration tool. While many players use this program to enhance their gameplay, it’s not officially classified as cheating. However, due to a bug in the system, the game erroneously interpreted the activity as a violation and applied the corresponding penalty.
As of now, Corsair has not issued statements regarding a possible review of the disqualification, while SAIDEIRA Esports has progressed to the championship final scheduled for Friday (9th).
