Nivera, VALORANT Standout, Announces Departure from the Game and Return to Counter-Strike

Nabil “Nivera” Benrlitom surprised fans on Thursday by revealing his decision to leave the competitive scene of VALORANT to return to the Counter-Strike (CS) universe. In an official statement, the player announced an amicable departure from his current team, Karmine Corp (KC), and expressed his determination to pursue his goals in the competing FPS.

At 22 years old, Nivera shared his choice through his official account on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, confirming his departure from the competitive VALORANT scene and the termination of his contract with Karmine Corp. He revealed his desire to return to CS, a discipline in which he competed between 2019 and 2021.

“I am officially announcing my departure from the Valorant competitive scene,” Nivera began. “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter as I have reached a mutual agreement with KC to pursue my dreams in CS (Counter-Strike) as a free agent.”

“This decision was not easy, but CS has always been on my mind. I am highly motivated and confident that I can achieve great things on this new journey.”

Nivera also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play for three years and mentioned the unique experience of competing alongside his older brother, Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom, a Counter-Strike legend. The two shared teams such as Karmine Corp and Team Liquid over three years in Riot Games’ FPS.

“VALORANT has played a significant role in my life and career, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunities it has provided me. Playing alongside my brother, a childhood dream, was a defining moment,” commented the player.

In VALORANT, Nivera won several high-level championships, including the VCT 2022: EMEA Last Chance Qualifier and the VALORANT Champions 2021, despite not competing in the Masters Madrid with Karmine Corp.

Now, as an active CS player, he returns to the scene after stints with Team Vitality and Team Heretics, where he won titles such as BLAST Premier: Fall 2020 and Intel Extreme Masters XV – Beijing before temporarily stepping away from competition. Currently, he is without a defined team to represent.
