During the thrilling final of the VALORANT Masters Madrid this Sunday (24th), Riot Games surprised fans by revealing Clove, an enigmatic figure from Scotland, as the latest addition to the game’s already diverse agent roster. With their unique style, Clove stands out as the first non-binary agent to enter the battlefield, bringing along a host of abilities that promise to shake up the usual tactics.
Scheduled to make their debut in Episode 8, Act II of VALORANT on the following Monday (26th), Clove brings with them a unique approach as a controller. While their execution abilities may not be as powerful as other members of this class, the ability to continue influencing the battlefield even after death adds an entirely new strategic dimension to the game.
Dan Hardison, Agent Mechanics Designer, shared his vision on Clove: “They’re different from other controllers in that their execution utilities are weaker than average, but the ability to contribute post-death brings a purpose that will have you almost always fighting to the death instead of fleeing opponents.”
Clove brings along a set of unique abilities:
- Stratagem (E): Allows Clove to visualize the battlefield and position strategic clouds. These clouds block vision in designated areas and can be activated even after the agent’s death.
- Evisceration (Q): Clove equips a fragment of Immortality Essence which, when thrown, temporarily applies Decay to all targets hit after a brief interval.
- Revitalize (C): This ability allows Clove to absorb the life force of a fallen enemy, granting them acceleration and temporary life.
- Not Yet Dead (X / ULT): After death, Clove can activate this ability to resurrect. However, to stay alive, Clove must secure a kill or assist within a set period after resurrection.
With a unique blend of offensive and defensive abilities, Clove is sure to significantly influence the strategies adopted by VALORANT players as they explore its new tactical possibilities and adjust to the revolutionary presence of this non-binary agent on the battlefield.
