The upcoming edition of the VALORANT Masters, set to be hosted in Shanghai, will undergo a format overhaul, announced Riot Games. This change directly responds to the success of the Masters Madrid and aims to intensify the competition, particularly favoring teams with higher rankings.
Riot Games’ Global Head, Leo Faria, explained that the decision was spurred by the positive performance of the Masters Madrid and aims to increase the competitiveness of the event. Under the new format, teams with better placements will have the privilege of choosing their opponents, granting them more direct control over their fate in the tournament.
The VALORANT Masters Shanghai is scheduled to take place between May 23rd and June 9th in China’s main city. Twelve teams from various international leagues will gather to compete for the title. However, it’s worth noting that following the results of the VCT Americas – Stage 1, Brazil will not have representatives in this edition of the tournament.
