Last Tuesday (18th), Riot Games announced several changes to the inclusive VALORANT circuit, known as Game Changers. One of the main changes is the increase in the number of teams participating in the world championship, which will now feature 10 teams instead of eight. Despite the tournament’s expansion, Brazil will continue to have only one representative team, maintaining the same number of spots as before. Consequently, the slots were distributed as follows: Americas 4, EMEA 3, Pacific 2, and China 1.

Within this framework, the LATAM region, North America, and Brazil are grouped as “Americas,” totaling four spots for this region. However, each sub-region competes individually for its slot, not as a single large region. This approach has raised new questions from the Brazilian VALORANT community.

The specific allocation of slots for the world championship is as follows:

  • 3 teams from the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa)
  • 2 teams from North America
  • 2 teams from the Pacific region (Asia-Pacific)
  • 1 team from Brazil
  • 1 team from Latin America
  • 1 team from China

Leo Faria clarified that this decision aims to balance competition and reflect the global distribution of VALORANT players and teams. Riot Games intends to ensure that all regions have fair representation, taking into account the game’s diversity and growth in different parts of the world.
