VALORANT: MIBR Breaks Long Losing Streak and Secures First Victory in VCT Americas

Last Saturday, July 14, during the final rounds of the VCT Americas – Stage 2 group stage, MIBR secured its first victory in the competition by defeating Evil Geniuses 2-0. With this result, the Brazilian team concluded their participation in the championship with a record of one win and nine losses, finishing in last place on the leaderboard.

Although they had no chance of advancing to the playoffs, the victory over the North American team was a significant relief for MIBR, who had gone 138 days without a win. The best-of-three series (Bo3) began on Bind, Evil Geniuses’ map choice. The team led by Davi “Palla” Alcides finished the first half with a 7-5 lead. After switching sides, MIBR maintained their consistent performance and secured the map victory with a 13-9 score.

The second map, Lotus, showcased an even more dominant performance by the Brazilians. Without giving their opponents any opportunities, MIBR won 13-2, consolidating the result with a solid and effortless display.

It is worth mentioning that, besides MIBR, the other two Brazilian teams in the tournament, FURIA and LOUD, also failed to advance to the next phase. Both teams missed the playoffs and, consequently, the chance to compete for one of the three spots in the Champions, the global VALORANT tournament.

On the other hand, Leviatán, with Brazilian player Erick “aspas” Santos, secured a spot in the next stage. Additionally, Sentinels, with Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi, and KRÜ Esports, featuring Brazilian player Olavo “heat” Marcelo, also advanced to the playoffs, keeping Brazilian hopes alive in the competition.
