Riot Games, the developer behind the popular tactical shooter VALORANT, has unveiled a series of new content and activations set to launch in preparation for the VALORANT Champions Tour: Champions 2024 (VCT Champions 2024). This premier international tournament will take place from August 1 to August 25 in South Korea.
These additions are an exciting treat for fans of the game. For the first time, Riot Games will introduce an official Pick’em competition, alongside new drops, a new agent, a special event pass, and a new skin collection.
The VALORANT Champions will bring together the top teams from four major regions – EMEA, China, Pacific, and the Americas – to compete for the World Champion title and a share of the total prize pool of $2.25 million (~ £1.75 million). Notably, the current champions, Evil Geniuses, did not qualify for this year’s event.
In a video titled “VALORANT Champions Updates,” Riley Yurk, VALORANT Global Esports Product Strategist, and Jack Flannery, Premium Content Product Manager at Riot Games, detailed the upcoming features.
One of the most exciting additions for 2024 is the Pick’ems competition, which allows fans to predict the outcomes of the tournament matches. Predictions can be made both on the official website and in-game. Players with the most accurate picks will receive rewards such as sprays, gun buddies, and an exclusive in-game title.
Additionally, Riot Games will reward players who log into VALORANT during the VCT Champions 2024 with an exclusive spray and player card, among other rewards. The duo also revealed that a new agent will be introduced during the international event.
Finally, Yurk and Flannery announced the Champions 2024 skin and item collection. This new collection will feature a special look for the Phantom and a katana. The customizations will include unique features such as a kill tracker that changes the weapon’s appearance and an exclusive finisher featuring the tournament trophy.
