During the 2024 VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT), a controversy arose among players regarding the quality of the computers used in the competition. The discontent became particularly evident when Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, a player for Sentinels, voiced his frustrations during a live stream, bringing significant attention to the issue within the competitive scene. In response to the growing concern, Riot Games, the developer of VALORANT, addressed the matter to clarify the situation.
The discussion about the computers resurfaced recently on social media after Leo Faria, the global head of VALORANT, appeared in a behind-the-scenes vlog of Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi’s team, where he mentioned the acquisition of new machines. A screenshot of this moment was shared on Reddit, sparking further debate. To address the questions raised, Leo Faria decided to speak directly on the platform.
“Hello everyone, just to clarify a bit here – the setup we’ve been using for the past few years is good enough to run VALORANT, but it is indeed reaching the end of its lifecycle. So, the pros are right. Our global update follows a schedule, and the next one is planned for October this year. So, it’s going to happen anyway. I’m not saying this to take away from Tyson’s comments; pro feedback can sometimes give us a push, and I appreciate them holding us accountable,” Faria explained.
Despite this statement, no additional information regarding the upcoming hardware updates has been released so far.
