VALORANT: Sacy’s Journey from LoL to the VALORANT Stage

After 11 years in the esports scene, Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi announced his retirement last Sunday (15). While Sacy is best known for his recent achievements in VALORANT, his career also includes standout performances in other games like Counter-Strike (CS) and League of Legends (LoL). Let’s take a look back at Sacy’s impressive career, from his early days to his major victories.

Early Days in CS

Sacy’s gaming talent emerged early on, participating in his first Counter-Strike tournament at the age of 11. His visits to lan houses with his father helped spark his passion for competitive gaming, marking the beginning of his journey into esports.

Rise in League of Legends

Though Sacy started with CS, it was in League of Legends, a MOBA game, that he first entered the professional competitive scene. LoL had a more developed competitive structure at the time, and Sacy’s skills quickly gained attention. He initially played for smaller teams such as Cyber Gamer e-Sports, MAD Gaming, and Big Gods, before joining INTZ Red, where he became part of the legendary “Exodia” lineup alongside players like Felipe “Yang” Zhao and Gabriel “Revolta” Cresci.

When INTZ Red rebranded to RED Canids, Sacy stayed on for five years. During this time, he won a CBLOL (Brazilian Championship of League of Legends) title and secured multiple top placements in the tournament.

Transition to VALORANT

With the release of VALORANT in June 2020, Sacy transitioned to Riot Games’ new FPS. Just months after the game launched, he was competing in smaller tournaments, such as the Gamers Club Ultimate Qualifiers and First Strike. Initially, there was skepticism about his move from LoL to a first-person shooter, but Sacy quickly silenced the critics. He went on to win the VCT (VALORANT Champions Tour) and the 2021 Brazil Masters.

Sacy is now the only Brazilian player to have won two international VALORANT titles, securing a Champions victory in 2022 with LOUD and a Masters win in 2024 with Sentinels.
