VALORANT: TenZ Explains Why He Won’t Play CS2

Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, one of VALORANT’s most renowned players, recently opened up about why he won’t pursue a professional career in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2). During a livestream, TenZ responded to a fan who asked if he would consider going pro in the new game. In an honest response, the former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS) player explained that he doesn’t believe he is at the level of today’s top players, especially those from Europe.

According to TenZ, the competition in CS is extremely tough, with players far more skilled than him. Even during his peak in CS, he struggled to keep up with the biggest names in the scene, such as Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev and Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbatut. The former pro recalled a match against s1mple, where he was left stunned by the Ukrainian player’s skill: “I was playing Train against s1mple, and he hit me with a perfect shot. It was one of the most insane shots I’ve ever seen,” he said.

TenZ also had high praise for the French star ZywOo, referring to him as a true “killing machine.” In TenZ’s view, players like ZywOo make the professional Counter-Strike scene incredibly challenging, making a transition to CS2 unrealistic for him.

During his brief stint in CS, TenZ didn’t achieve many major victories. Still early in his career, his most notable accomplishment was helping Cloud9 secure fourth place in a Blast tournament in 2019.
