VALORANT: Riot Games Unveils Glitch, New Team Deathmatch Map; See Images

Riot Games has revealed an exciting new addition to VALORANT’s Team Deathmatch (TDM) mode: the Glitch map. Launching as part of Act 3 in Episode 9, this map brings a dynamic, competitive environment to VALORANT’s TDM. Glitch is the fifth TDM map in the game, featuring a symmetric design with three distinct routes for combat.

The map embraces a theme of “dual environments,” placing players in a “glitched” simulation created by Maxbot. One side immerses players in a deserted version of Sunset, while the other presents a wintery take on Haven. This mix of settings creates challenging contrasts, enhancing VALORANT’s intense gameplay experience.

Glitch Map Structure and Strategy

The Glitch map’s primary design focus is a central tower that becomes a high-ground area of intense rivalry between teams. A hidden route offers indirect lines of sight, enabling players to approach the tower from varying angles. This layout promotes territorial control and frequent battles for the tower’s vantage point. Spawn points were also optimized to prevent enemies from camping, ensuring smoother movement and continuous combat.

Art and Theme: The Duality of Glitch

Glitch’s artistic design explores unique and contrasting visuals, adding a playful twist to the lore of Maxbot. For the first time, VALORANT developers are testing a dual-environment concept, with the contrasting sides of the map bringing a fresh, story-driven, and visually rich experience that complements the traditional symmetric design of three-lane maps.

Phoenix Buffs and Other Updates

In addition to the Glitch map, the agent Phoenix will receive significant buffs in patch 9.10, set for release in November. These improvements include enhanced healing and shield abilities to reinforce Phoenix’s role in battle. Updates to the Sunset map will also be implemented, and the competitive rotation will soon include Split and Abyss.
