In the thrilling conclusion of this Thursday (30), Shopify Rebellion made it clear they meant business in the Game Changers Championship 2023, the inclusive VALORANT tournament, securing victory against the BBL Queens.
Ava “florescent” Eugene, a tournament favorite, showcased why she’s highly anticipated. The 17-year-old athlete currently holds the fourth spot in the VLR worldwide rankings, VALORANT’s statistical portal.
Ascent
The Turkish team BBL Queens chose the first map of the series. Given it’s a well-established tournament map, the agent selection was predictable, featuring Omen, Sova, Killjoy, Kayo, and Jett. The composition proved equally strong on both sides, but Shopify Rebellion capitalized on their defensive kit, taking an 8-round lead and ending the first half at 10-2.
During the side switch, Shopify Rebellion secured the first two rounds. The BBL Queens made it challenging for victory, scoring points. However, facing an armed round, Shopify Rebellion reached match point, winning the first map 13-3. florescent stood out with a 1.73 KDA and an average damage of 192 per round.
Haven
In the second map of the series, Shopify Rebellion chose the map and started on the attack. With an aggressive composition using Jett, Killjoy, Viper, Skye, and Omen, they faced the BBL Queens, who stuck to the standard composition of Jett, Sova, Omen, Killjoy, and Breach. Shopify Rebellion’s explosive composition led them to almost masterfully close the first half with a score of 9-3.
In the second half, Shopify Rebellion demonstrated that the composition worked equally well on the defensive side. They only lost the pistol round but won all subsequent rounds, sending the BBL Queens to the lower bracket while advancing in the upper bracket of the tournament.
Despite not having the highest average combat score, Nicole “Noia” Tierce delivered an excellent performance in the match, with an average damage of 187 per round and a KDA of 1.43, with a difference of 12 kills to deaths.
With the extremely positive result, florescent shone as the star of the series, accumulating 37 kills and an average combat score of 307.
With the victory, Shopify Rebellion comfortably advances in the competition and will face G2 Gozen in the upper bracket final. The BBL Queens, on the other hand, will take on the Brazilian powerhouse Team Liquid.
Both matchups are scheduled for next Friday (01) and will be broadcast on the official VALORANT Brasil channels on Twitch and YouTube, starting at 2 PM.
