On the night of October 15, 2024, the VALORANT community was shaken by the announcement of the suspension of Chet “Chet” Singh, former coach of NRG Esports. The coach was penalized for violating Riot Games’ Global Esports Conduct Code. The infraction occurred on July 31, 2024, when Chet shared unauthorized content. Below are the details of the violation, Chet’s response, and what could happen next.
The Violation
According to Riot Games, Chet gained unauthorized access to VoDs (Videos on Demand) from VALORANT competitions and publicly streamed the content. Riot views this as a serious breach, as accessing and sharing private data without permission compromises the integrity of the competitions.
Chet’s Response
Chet addressed the incident through his account on X (formerly Twitter). He explained that after the violation, he was barred from receiving job offers from other organizations, which has severely impacted his career. Despite this, Chet expressed frustration with Riot Games’ decision, arguing that no parties involved were actually harmed.
Although he apologized to the community, Chet also stated that he will continue to be active in the gaming scene by streaming during his suspension. His ban from VALORANT competitions will last until the end of the Masters Bangkok event in 2025.
NRG’s Position
Jaime Cohenca, Chief Gaming Officer of NRG Esports, also commented on the matter. He clarified on X that NRG had no involvement in the incident and urged the public to stop speculating that the organization tried to harm Chet. As of now, there is no official statement from NRG on their social media profiles regarding the situation.
Chet’s Future
With prior experience in the CSscene, Chet has expressed interest in seeking new opportunities with CS2 teams after his suspension ends. However, no organization has publicly shown interest in hiring him so far. Meanwhile, Chet has been offering coaching sessions to his followers during his live streams.
