On Tuesday, January 23, VALORANT received the 8.01 update, bringing a series of modifications to the tactical shooting game. Among the most significant changes are adjustments to the agent Skye and alterations to the Breeze map.
Map Updates Breeze
- Site A has been reopened.
Agent Updates
Skye
Changes aim to make Skye more strategic with her ability, Guiding Light (E). This introduces a clearer opportunity cost when including the agent in compositions.
By removing the recharge of Guiding Light (E), the decision of when to use it throughout the round becomes more crucial, balancing the strength of the ability that provides both combat advantage and reconnaissance. The automatic activation of the flash at the end of the duration requires a more intentional use of fake flashes, making long-distance casting easier.
Guiding Light (E)
- No longer recharges during the round.
- Automatically activates the flash at the end of the duration.
In Update 6.07, the yellow indicators that appeared for those being tracked by a Trailblazer (X) nearby were removed. Now, indicators have been added again to make interactions with Trailblazers (X) clearer in chaotic confrontations.
Trailblazers (X)
- Directional yellow indicator when approaching the target.
Iso
We are updating Iso to promote autonomy and combat advantage provided by Protective Flow (E).
Increasing the duration of the energy orb provides more time to deal with nearby threats while still maintaining the shield. Extending the duration of the effect and shield allows the Agent to choose confrontations with more time, and reducing the width of the Protective Flow (E) shield offers more combat advantages by telegraphing less of your presence to enemies.
Protective Flow (E)
- Increase in the duration of the throwable orb from 2s to 3s.
- Increase in the duration of the initial effect and shield: 15s >>> 20s.
- Reduction of the shield width from 120 to 100.
- Reduction of Contingency cost to better reflect its value: 250 >>> 200.
Raze
With Explosive Charge (Q), Raze often covers considerable distance, becoming a sudden threat. This update improves the audio clarity when the character uses the ability to enter an area, especially in chaotic situations.
Contingency (C)
- The audio of Raze flying with explosive charge is now louder when approaching your direction.
Bug Fixes Agents Gekko
- Thrash (X) explosion is no longer prevented from hitting enemies due to geometric angles. Iso
- Iso’s energy orbs have returned to respawn after eliminating training bots in The Range but still do not respawn in Shooting Tests. Reyna
- Reyna’s Soul Orbs have returned to respawn after eliminating training bots in The Range but still do not respawn in Shooting Tests.
Game Mechanics Systems
- Fixed a transition error when switching between “inspect” and “aim” using the Outlaw.
- Fixed bullet trackers from Tour de Force (X) of Chamber and Operator when penetrating certain angles.
- Fixed an issue on the minimap that displayed visual effects similar to Omen’s Shadow Step (X) when entering a match.
- The white circular Spike indicator on the minimap has returned to appear even when dropped at someone’s minimap limit.
