Tixinha Unveils New Paths After Leaving Riot Games

Guilherme “Tixinha” Cheida, renowned for his 10 years of dedication to Riot Games as a caster and content creator for VALORANT, League of Legends (LoL), and other titles, made the decision to embark on an independent journey, parting ways with the company in December.

In the Flow Games podcast held in early January, Tixinha shared insights into his motivation for the departure and outlined his plans for the future. Despite being one of the most prominent casters in the industry, he expressed the need to explore new possibilities and seek greater autonomy in his career.

Having played a significant role as the global representative of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT): LOCK//IN, a worldwide championship held in São Paulo, Tixinha highlighted the creative freedom he enjoyed at Riot Games. However, throughout 2023, he began questioning his future and contemplating the prospect of pursuing his own projects.

“I was already achieving everything I could for my career within VALORANT, and I wanted to take a bigger step, both financially and in my career,” shared Guilherme. “Is it not time for me to explore other things? Is it not time to be less of Tixinha from Riot and more ‘The Tixinha’ and pursue my own endeavors?”

The decisive moment for his departure came during a meeting at the end of 2023 when he realized he would have less support given the centralized power of Riot Games, especially compared to other franchises worldwide.

The caster now aims to take the lead in his career, exploring opportunities to materialize his own ideas and fulfill his dreams beyond Riot Games.

Tácio “schaeppi” Schaeppi also discussed the growing trend of watch parties, where influencers conduct simultaneous broadcasts of championships to attract and retain new audiences. The devaluation in caster hiring was deliberated, reflecting the inconsistency of the scene, despite maintaining quality in delivery.

Additionally, the text addresses community concerns about the new competitive format of Riot’s FPS, indicating the departure of several organizations in recent months.

In terms of his future, Tixinha expresses the desire to focus on personal development and drive his own projects while keeping the possibility of collaborating with Riot Games again as a freelancer.
