Following a frustrating defeat against Made In Brazil (MIBR) on Monday (19), the FURIA team was eliminated from the VCT Americas KICK//OFF, a VALORANT tournament that brings together teams from the Americas with a strong Brazilian presence. Coach Pedro “Koy” Pulig expressed his frustration with the team’s performance, describing it as “hard to watch.”
According to Koy, at least eight rounds were “handed over on a silver platter” to the opponent throughout the two maps played. FURIA was defeated 9-13 on Split and later suffered another setback on Breeze, which ended with a score of 11-13.
In a subsequent statement, the coach took some responsibility for the adverse result, stating: “I propose strategies, I create plays. My goal is not to expose my team or garner sympathy for myself. I’m not saying ‘If I were there, it would be different.’ I don’t understand how people misinterpreted my comment. We lose together, but I’m willing to take the responsibility alone, if necessary. I don’t shy away from challenges.”
In the clash against MIBR, FURIA started on Split, the map chosen by the opponents. The beginning of the match was balanced, but in the end, MIBR managed to prevail. Next, Koy’s team opted for Breeze, where they came close to victory on several occasions, however, some misguided economic decisions ended up costing dearly in the outcome of the match.
