VALORANT Masters Madrid, one of the premier international championships of the game, kicked off in full swing this Thursday (14). In a highly anticipated matchup, the Brazilian team LOUD faced off against Gen.G in a fierce contest, but ended up falling 2-1 to the South Korean opponents.
The clash began on the map Icebox, with LOUD showing promise by securing the early rounds on defense. However, Gen.G quickly reacted, balancing the game. After a tense first half, ending tied at 6-6, Gen.G took the lead in the second half and, despite the efforts of the Brazilian team, secured the victory by 13-11.
In the second map, Breeze, LOUD started off dominantly, imposing an offensive game on their opponents and opening up a comfortable lead of 9-3 in the first half. Even with Gen.G’s attempted comeback after the sides switched, the Brazilians maintained control of the game and closed out with a 13-8 victory.
The decision came down to Ascent, where the team led by Kim “t3xture” Na-ra dominated from the start. LOUD couldn’t contain the attacks of the South Koreans on defense, resulting in an unfavorable first half of 9-3. In the second half, the Brazilian team couldn’t impose their rhythm of play, allowing Gen.G to secure the victory by 13-5.
With this setback against Gen.G, LOUD now faces an even greater challenge at VALORANT Masters Madrid. With the margin for error reduced, any slip-up could result in early elimination. In the Swiss phase of the tournament, just two losses could mean an early departure from the international competition.
