After weeks of speculation and anticipation, Riot Games unveiled the latest map for VALORANT, called “Abyss,” on the morning of Sunday, the 9th. This new scenario stands out as the first unlimited map in the tactical shooter game, promising a variety of strategies, innovative movements, and new resources for players.
The map features two sites for planting the spike and transports players to a secret base of the Hourglass Enforcers, a mysterious and deadly organization. Situated in the depths of a treacherous abyss, the arena introduces vertical mechanics and falls, challenging players with its design.
Abyss’s layout includes three main routes and various alternate paths through the middle. With deadly drops and creative jumps, players will be able to explore the new map starting next Tuesday, the 11th.
Joey Simas, Riot Games’ Lead Map Designer, commented on the development of Abyss, emphasizing the intention to provide more creative freedom to players.
“We’ve noticed that players enjoy making memorable plays that become interesting clips, so we wanted to offer more creative freedom in the map. We’ve always appreciated high-risk mechanics, so we decided to bring that exciting element to VALORANT without making things too serious,” explained Simas.
Additionally, the Retribution 2024 Bundle will be available until June 12th. During this period, 50% of the profits from weapon skins and 100% of the profits from cosmetics will be donated to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund, a donor-supported fund sponsored by ImpactAssets.
